It is nice to know that monks are 'normal' and 'regular' people. Gives me hope for my sorry self.Athanasiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13107488973500025470noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5134782302655515338.post-58123586172720842682010-05-10T22:21:10.333+02:002010-05-10T22:21:10.333+02:00Thanks for posting this. Seraphim was concerned about the "jam session" section. Actually, the details are interesting. That group of neighbors gets together to play bluegrass, but only gospel music is allowed as they are strict Baptists. We went there once, about 6 years ago now, and many years before, the novice master from Jordanville had taken the novices (including the future Bishop George) to a similar gospel music session while on a trip to the Sill's farm (now the monastery). While some of our monks probably played instruments in theory, they didn't actually play them there. The father of one of the monks, who was visiting at the time, did play the mandolin with them, if my memory serves me correctly.Hieromonk Alexanderhttp://www.holycross-hermitage.comnoreply@blogger.com
